Ahead of the start of SBC Summit Latinoamérica, and in an exclusive conversation with Yogonet, Alejandro Serrano —cofounder of Calímaco— laid out the foundations that place the company among the fastest-growing in the region. In the interview, he highlighted the role Calímaco played in Apuesta Total's expansion in Peru, where they expect to keep growing, and emphasized their commitment to markets like Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Brazil.

Challenges in the Latin American market

Serrano identifies multifaceted challenges. For operators, quality and service are crucial differentiators; for governments, balanced regulation and player protection are essential. Calímaco underlines the importance of a stable legal framework and reasonable taxation that foster a healthy, competitive gaming environment.

Focus on regulated markets

The company sees regulation as an opportunity: it raises the bar in functionality and user protection. With an offering centered on adaptability —including artificial intelligence— Calímaco bets on a reliable partnership that anticipates the needs of a complex sector. They are exploring the emerging markets of Argentina and Chile with interest, while seeing strong potential in the consolidated Peruvian scene.

The fundamental role of software

An operator wants its software provider to drive the business forward, not hold it back. The list of needs is long and expectations are high: user experience, competitive agility, availability and scalability, adaptability and speed of response, quality of service and dialogue. "It's the difference between being and not being," Serrano says, insisting that software must let the operator focus on commercial priorities rather than solving technological problems.

Opportunities in Latin America

With its eyes on the sector's evolution, Calímaco is strengthening its presence in Mexico and Brazil, where the imminent regulation of online gaming opens promising horizons. The opening of the Brazilian market is a particularly attractive focus for its growth ambitions. At the same time, the company closely follows the regulatory processes in Argentina, Peru, and Chile, confident that its ability to adapt to regulation gives it an advantage in helping operators transition to a regulated landscape.

Regulation, innovation, and growth

Calímaco defines itself as a strategic ally: it sees regulation and the evolution of markets as stepping stones toward innovation and development. Its commitment is constant: with every project, they reinforce the purpose of being catalysts of success and growth in the online gaming industry.
